How we make our doors.
- When raised panels are glued, every effort is made to match grain and color at each joint. After machining the detail portions are carefully sanded. Flat panels are made of 1/4" domestic ply on fiber core (whenever possible). The panels are machined to quality specifications before sanding and assembly. All panels are held in place with foam strips to keep the panel centered while allowing for the natural contraction and expansion from changes in humidity. Stile and rail details are slight rounded at the panel. This allows the stain to flow farther onto the panel, reducing those "white lines" that are caused by shrinking or shifting of the panel.
